Ophelial, a poetry chap book by Zola Kell
Zola Kell (she/her) is a white settler currently living on the lands of the Bitterroot Salish (Séliš), Pend d’Oreille (Ql̓ispé), Nez Perce (Nimíipuu), Coeur d’Alene (Schi̲tsu’umsh), and Kootenai (Ktunʌ́χɑ̝ ) peoples in what is currently known as Missoula, MT. A multidisciplinary artist, her work frequently draws on the natural world to re-interpret folktales and mythology as a way of investigating our relationships. Stemming from a research background in Translation Studies, Zola looks to metaphor and language play as a way to make seemingly simple concepts complex and multifarious. Equally interested in experimenting with her materials and seeing how they can be pushed to new forms, she is currently fascinated by transforming cast-off objects and neglected spaces into immersive installations.
